Mooncake Festival Sketch Competition Gallery. Gone in 10 seconds. Just kidding ^^
Event summary:
Praise the Lord and bravo to everyone who has participated in the sketch presentation, the actor and actress as well as the backstage crew members.
The rehearsal was scheduled for Saturday morning but we had encoutered several technical problems in particular the switching mechanism for the laptop. We want to thank Yik Kiet for providing the USB-PS2 cables, which are essential to the smooth switching of the powerpoint. Also, there are problems with co-ordination of group members in their own presentations. Everything, including PA system, microphones, apparatus and computers, was properly setup by 6pm.
The evening began with a prayer led by Rev. Allen Chen. Then, the master of ceremony (MC) Yee Khuan and Donny addressed and welcomed the congregation. Without further ado, the first group, directed by James Yek took the stage. The title is "管家" depicting the theme of "The parable of talents". The sketch potrayed 3 main character, Chiin Yiing, Oscar and Yik Kiet. Chiin Yiing featured a woman with business potential who was money-minded and suffered bankruptcy after a failed 2 billion investment. Oscar served God faithfully and God blessed him with a happy family. Yik Kiet had financial problems and resorted to computer hacking which resulted him in conviction. The group had done marvellous job in the costume design and choreography.
After the first sketch, Rev. Allen Chen presented the audience with a powerpoint presentation with illustrations depicting the glory and love of God, with "Jesus loves you" as background music. The MCs then introduced the second group directed by William and Bruce. The second group cast Daniel as the main character in the story. Daniel was a youth faithful to God but encountered denials and suffering in his life. He had leukemia and was cheated by triads. He also attempt suicide but failed to end his life. In hospital, he was counselled by pastor (Michael) and renew his faith in God. He passed away and his family grieved. The family turned to Christ after the incident.
The last group, directed by Ing Tong, was about "爱的团契', featuring 4 main characters. They were Alvin, Victor, Elly and Evelyn. Victor and Elly were non-Christian. They were assigned to group assignments with Alvin and Evelyn respectively. Victor had mild autism and Elly was also busy with her casual work. They always forgot to contribute in the assignment which resulted in Alvin and Evelyn frustrated at them. After Rev. Chen's sharing in the MYF, Alvin and Evelyn realized that they have to accept Victor and Elly for their weakness. They approached their partners and tried to help them. In the end, they became good friends and both Victor and Elly also went to MYF and changed their lifestyles.
After the sketched, a group of youths, involving Yee Shin, Daniel, Joyce, Peter and Chiin Yiing, presented a dance. The night ended with photo session. Everyone was tired but happy with their efforts. We also realized one thing, packing and tidying the appartus was more tiring than setup them up.
Results for best sketch, best director, best actor and actress, best actor and actress in supporting role will be revealed this Friday. Dont miss it. There are prizes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
